Born is the storytelling creative agency.
Put simply, we build brands and then create campaigns for those brands. And we also create campaigns for brands that are already built.
We are an agency that applies narrative theory to our work. Born is predicated on the idea that a brand does not exist as an objective reality in the world, but rather exists as a collection of stories in the imagination of humans. And despite their fictional nature, these stories have a tremendous impact on our behaviour and on society; and a brand's ability to create and share these stories is the crucial factor in their long term success.
And when we think of a brand in these terms, it all gets much more interesting.
David is a cross sector Strategy Director, with 14 years agency experience spanning London and Sydney. David started his career writing TV, before moving to public relations leading communication and creative strategies for brands including eBay, Shell, Hyundai, Disney and Ben & Jerry’s.
Moving to Sydney for love, David shifted his career focus to creative brand strategy, working for WE Communications, Australia’s largest independent communications group The Haus as Group Strategy Director, and finally Chello where he built a strategy offering based on a working philosophy of deconstruction, and narrative based storytelling.
Put simply, David loves brands. And stories. And clients who love the work. And great campaigns. And celebratory dinners. David has lost his last 11 squash league games in a row.
Jenny has 12 years experience working with brands of all sizes. She started her career in the UK working at big global agencies such as McCann and Havas as an Art Director. Some of the brands she worked on include: Aldi, American Airlines, Cross Country Trains, Shire, Sanofi Genzyme, Jacamo, and SimplyBe.
After a mid-twenties crisis, she moved to Australia for adventure. Jenny took the position of Creative Director at an Adelaide-based creative agency. Over three years she helped transform the company from a video production company to a full-service creative agency. Since then, she's been working at various Australian agencies in a Creative Director position to help shape and improve brands and their campaigns. She's worked across multiple sectors including Retail, FMG, Pharma, Property, Fashion, Finance, and Emerging Technologies.
